Tasting Note
Golden-amber with copper hues. Aromas of dried fig, orange zest, honey, beeswax and toasted nuts. Buttery, intense palate of golden raisin, kumquat, star anise and date in syrup with a long, sweet finish.
Food Pairing
Foie gras, blue and aged cheeses, nut and honey desserts, turrón, dried fruit compotes; Asian pairings: baklava/halva, sesame/honey desserts, mooncakes, miso‑caramel sweets, spiced duck or pork with citrus glaze.
Production Method
Torrontés grapes left to over‑ripen, cold maceration and classic fermentation halted (fortified with 65% grape spirit) at high residual sugar (~221 g/L). Aged ~12 months in fourth‑use French oak barrels (solera‑inspired exposure).
Vineyard Info
Produced by Familia Zuccardi’s Malamado line (small‑batch fortified wines). Project began mid‑2000s using old Torrontés vines (planted 1979) from Santa Rosa, Mendoza; crafted as an Argentine take on solera/fortified wines.
