Tasting Note

Bold peat smoke, gentle maritime salinity, orchard fruits (pear, apple), apricot, vanilla and toasted oak; spicy notes and a long, silky, slightly smoky finish.


Food Pairing

Western: grilled lamb, smoked salmon, aged cheddar, dark chocolate. Asian: miso-glazed black cod, yakitori, yakiniku (grilled beef), rich miso ramen.


Production Method

Single malt distilled in traditional pot stills with direct coal-fired heating; peated malt, matured in new American oak, ex-sherry and other casks at coastal warehouses.

Yoichi Distillery, founded 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, is Nikka Whisky’s original Hokkaido distillery, known for bold, peated single malts and traditional Scottish-style production.
