Awards/Ratings
Widely praised: James Halliday/Halliday Wine Companion 98 points (2018 listing); high marks from wine press and international reviewers; acclaimed as one of Yangarra’s flagship High Sands Grenaches with multiple top-100/critical accolades
Tasting Note
Perfumed and mineral-driven red: bright red cherry, raspberry and blood-plum with rose, dried violet, pepper and earthy herb notes. Chalky, fine tannins support concentrated fruit, vivid acidity and a long, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Roast lamb, slow-cooked shoulder, duck confit, aged cheeses (Manchego, cheddar); charred eggplant, Korean BBQ (bulgogi/galbi), Peking roast pork, Sichuan-style dishes.
Production Method
Hand-picked from old bush vines, ~50% whole-berries/whole-bunch influence, wild-yeast open ferments, long gentle maceration, matured ~10–12 months in older French oak, kept on lees; unfined, lightly filtered.
Vineyard Info
Yangarra Estate (Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale). Biodynamically farmed single-block High Sands vines planted in 1946; Peter Fraser is long-time winemaker crafting single-block, low-yield Grenache.
