Tasting Note
Perfumed red and dark fruits (raspberry, cherry), rose-petal florals, spice and licorice with subtle earth and vanillin oak. Medium-full palate, fine gritty/chewy tannins, bright acidity and a very long, concentrated finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roasted lamb, lamb chops, duck confit, mushroom risotto, aged cheddar. Asian: char siu pork, Korean BBQ, miso-glazed eggplant, spicy Sichuan lamb, hoisin duck.
Production Method
Hand-harvested from selected old-vine blocks (Block 31); ~50% whole berries, wild-yeast open ferments, extended maceration (~21 days), free-run to older French oak for ~11 months; biodynamic/organic viticulture.
Vineyard Info
Yangarra Estate’s High Sands block: 1946-planted bush vines on deep sands at ~210m elevation in Blewitt Springs. Block 31 is lowest-vigour, low-yield fruit prized for concentration; estate is managed biodynamically/organically.
