Tasting Note

Rich, brooding dark-berry and black-cherry aromatics with subtle earth, spice and floral hints. Layered palate of ripe red and dark fruit, bright acidity, fine silky tannins and a long, concentrated finish.


Food Pairing

Western: roast lamb, venison, duck, pork belly, seared tuna. Asian: Szechuan-style pork, hoisin/miso duck or salmon, char siu pork, teriyaki dishes.


Production Method

Fruit from Southern Valleys sites cold-soaked, fermented with selected and indigenous yeasts, pressed and matured in French oak (c.12–14 months) with malolactic fermentation; blended, fined and bottled.

Wither Hills founded 1994 in Marlborough. Sources grapes from Wairau Valley Southern Valleys, Sustainable Winegrowers NZ certified; acquired by Lion (2002) and distributed internationally.
