Awards/Ratings
Retail tasting notes and merchants consistently praise its bottle‑aged complexity. Comparable Warre LBVs have scored in the ~90–92 range (e. g. , Wine Spectator 91 for the 2008 LBV; Robert Parker ~92 for adjacent vintages); Warre's 2011 Vintage Port (different bottling) received high critic scores
Tasting Note
Deep garnet colour; perfumed violets and rose florals with ripe blackberry, cassis and dark plum. Notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and spice. Velvety, concentrated palate with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a long, warming finish.
Food Pairing
Stilton or Roquefort and other blue cheeses; dark chocolate desserts, Christmas pudding, roasted nuts; braised beef or lamb, roast duck; Asian pairings such as char siu (sticky pork belly), Peking duck and spiced desserts.
Production Method
Aged ~4 years in oak casks, bottled unfiltered and matured further in bottle at Vila Nova de Gaia (traditional bottle‑matured LBV). No fining or filtration; fortified with grape spirit to c.20% ABV.
