Tasting Note
Purple hue; aromas of star jasmine, plum, cherry, cardamom and cinnamon. Juicy palate of mulberry, ripe blackberry and crushed green Madagascan pepper, with soft tannins, warm spice and a long, elegant savory finish.

Food Pairing
Western: grilled lamb, beef steaks, venison, barbecued/smoked meats, roast duck with cherry glaze, aged cheddar. Asian: Korean BBQ, char siu, Szechuan beef, beef rendang, mild curries (Thai/Indian).

Production Method
Hand‑picked fruit; de‑stemmed with ~15% whole stems returned; 24h cold soak, fermented ~26°C with 21‑day maceration; malolactic in stainless steel; matured 15–16 months in 225L French oak (≈25% new).

Vergelegen is a historic Stellenbosch estate. Reserve Shiraz is sourced from the Rooiland north‑facing vineyards on Glenrosa and Clovelly soils, planted virus‑free from 1999; estate focuses on premium, estate‑grown varieties.
