Awards/Ratings
Selected reviews: Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 97+/97 (2023 review), James Suckling 97, Wine Enthusiast 96, Wine Spectator 93. Aged ~30 months in French oak; considered one of Torbreck's flagship old‑vine Shiraz releases
Tasting Note
Aromas of blackberry, plum and dark cherry with Turkish delight, star anise, earl-grey tea and subtle vanilla. Dense, powerful and concentrated on the palate with layered dark fruit, savoury olive/earth notes, compact fine-grained tannins and a very long finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, roast lamb, aged cheddar. Asian: Peking duck, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), char siu, Sichuan beef, rich Malaysian curries.
Production Method
Hand‑harvested old-vine Shiraz parcels fermented separately (open-top fermenters), basket-pressed, matured ~30 months in French oak barriques (≈50% new). Small Viognier addition before bottling; often bottled unfiltered.
Vineyard Info
Torbreck, founded by David Powell (1994), specialises in old‑vine Barossa Shiraz. RunRig is the estate flagship, blended from six distinguished old‑vine vineyards (some plantings mid‑1800s).
