Tasting Note
Classic, savory Rioja: wild cherry, red berry, dried herbs, tobacco, truffle and vanilla. Medium-bodied with bright acidity, fine-grained yet present tannins and a long, savory finish.

Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, grilled steak, stews, aged Manchego, cured ham. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean bulgogi, braised pork belly, mildly spicy Sichuan dishes.

Production Method
Hand-harvested; fermented in large oak vats, aged ~6 years in (used) oak barrels with two rackings per year; clarified with fresh egg whites and bottled unfiltered.

R. López de Heredia (founded 1877) is a family-run, traditional Rioja house; Viña Tondonia is their ~100 ha estate in Haro, known for century-old practices and long ageing.
