Tasting Note

Blackcurrant and blackberry core with cedar, tobacco, graphite and earthy/mineral notes; firm ripe tannins, medium–full body and a long savory finish with subtle vanillin oak and dried herb accents.

Western: roast lamb, ribeye or hanger steak, beef stew, venison, aged cheddar and hard cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, beef bulgogi, Korean barbecue, Cantonese roast meats, rich Sichuan beef dishes.


Production Method

Classic Bordeaux vinification: destemmed fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, malolactic conversion and maturation ~12–18 months in French oak barrels (portion new).

Estate revived by négociant Jean Gautreau in 1969; ~50–66 ha planted. Produces grand vin Sociando‑Mallet and second wine La Demoiselle; well-regarded Haut‑Médoc Cru Bourgeois producer.
