Awards/Ratings
Multiple international medals and recognitions across Decanter World Wine Awards, Thessaloniki Int'l Wine Competition and TEXSOM for Sigalas Vinsanto vintages; producer lists awards for various vintages (see producer technical page)
Tasting Note
Luscious golden-amber; dried fig, honey, caramel, toasted nuts and mocha; vibrant, sharp acidity balances intense sweetness and textured mouthfeel with a very long, persistent finish.
Food Pairing
Western: aged blue cheeses (Stilton), foie gras, almond/tarte tatin, dark chocolate with nuts. Asian: baklava-style desserts, kataifi, sesame brittle, mooncakes, sweet red-bean or matcha desserts, miso‑caramel dishes; dried fruits and nuts.
Production Method
Hand‑harvested fruit; grapes sundried ~10–14 days, gently pressed, fermented in oak over ~2 years and matured minimum 4 years in old barrels. Rigorous sorting and traditional Vinsanto techniques.
Vineyard Info
Domaine Sigalas, founded by Paris Sigalas in 1991 (Oia, Santorini); works with ancient, 50–60+ year volcanic-soil vines and blends traditional practices with modern winemaking.
