Tasting Note
Deep mahogany with amber rim. Ultra-viscous, flavours of brandied walnuts, bittersweet dark chocolate, coffee grounds, dried mandarin peel and toasted hazelnut; blood‑orange acidity lifts a long, rancio finish.
Food Pairing
Western: blue cheeses, dark chocolate, nutty desserts (hazelnut tart), aged pecorino, fruitcake, foie gras. Asian: Cantonese roast duck, mooncakes, Chinese five‑spice desserts, sesame‑based sweets, sticky rice puddings.
Production Method
Fortified during fermentation with grape spirit, then matured oxidatively in old oak hogsheads in Seppeltsfield’s Centennial Cellar for ~100 years before bottling.
Vineyard Info
Seppeltsfield is a historic Barossa estate founded by Joseph Seppelt. Benno Seppelt established the Centennial Cellar in 1878, creating an unbroken single‑vintage tawny lineage matured for 100 years.
