Tasting Note
Bright and concentrated Pinot Noir: black cherry and raspberry lead with cedar, clove and black tea notes, white pepper spiciness, firm but integrated tannins and a long silky, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Roast duck with hoisin, herb-crusted lamb, grilled/miso-glazed salmon, mushroom risotto, Korean BBQ (short ribs), char siu pork, grilled tuna, and aged cheeses. (Western and Asian pairings recommended).
Production Method
Hand-harvested (night), cold-soaked, ~12-day ferment with punch-downs; malolactic in barrel; aged ~14 months in French oak (c.30% new); bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Family-owned Schug Carneros Estate founded 1980; estate vineyard on western Carneros ridge with rocky soils and cooling winds producing small, concentrated Pinot Noir berries. Johannes Scheid continues the Schug Pinot tradition.
