Tasting Note
Lush honeyed apricot, orange marmalade, saffron and lanolin with bright citrus lift and botrytis spice; viscous, balanced by racy acidity and a very long, citrus-tinged finish.
Food Pairing
Foie gras (terrine or seared), blue cheeses (Roquefort, Stilton), fruit tarts or crème brûlée; Asian: Peking duck, spicy Thai curries, mango sticky rice, and soy-glazed scallops.
Production Method
Selective hand harvest of botrytised grapes, barrel fermentation and élevage 18–26 months (≈50–55% new oak); strict barrel selection for the grand vin.
Vineyard Info
Château Rieussec, a 1er Cru Classé estate (93 ha) adjoining Yquem, owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1984; modernised cellars and reduced yields for quality.
