Tasting Note

Perfumed, ripe cherry and dark plum with violets, baking spice, savory herbs and subtle earthy/mushroom notes. Silky texture, fine tannins, bright acidity and a long, polished finish.

Production Method

Estate biodynamic farming; hand‑harvested, small‑batch fermentations with indigenous yeasts, cold soak, ~23 days maceration; aged ~12 months in French oak barriques (≈28% new); spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Founded by Rudi Bauer in 1996, Quartz Reef farms a biodynamic estate in Bendigo. Vines planted from 1998 on quartz‑rich soils; known for site‑driven Pinot Noir and Demeter/BioGro certifications.
