Tasting Note

Bright ruby; dark cherry and blackberry with wild thyme, clove and forest‑floor notes. Chalky acidity, fine velvety tannins and a savory, mineral finish. Elegant, concentrated and ageworthy.

New Zealand lamb or roasted duck; beef short rib, pork loin; western cheeses (Brie, Comté). Asian pairings: miso‑glazed salmon, teriyaki chicken, char siu pork, Peking duck, Korean BBQ, mushroom‑forward ramen.


Production Method

Hand‑harvested fruit; indigenous yeast ferment in open concrete and oak; 10–25% whole‑bunch; aged 12–18 months in French oak (20–30% new); bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Pyramid Valley (founded by Mike & Claudia Weersing; acquired by Steve Smith MW & Brian Sheth) farms the Manatu Lowburn site—loess over deep gravels; organic/BioGro conversion completed around 2022; Huw Kinch leads winemaking.
