Tasting Note
Concentrated black cherry and cassis with violet and dried lavender perfume, fynbos and smoked-meat notes; saline minerality, vibrant acidity and powdery, muscular tannins lead to a long, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Grilled lamb chops, roasted beef, duck confit, aged hard cheeses; Asian pairings: Korean BBQ (bulgogi), char siu or hoisin-glazed duck, Sichuan beef, braised lamb skewers.
Production Method
Whole-bunch, natural fermentation; matured ~60% in large oak foudres and 40% in concrete eggs for about 24 months before bottling.
Vineyard Info
Single-site Syrah from the Porseleinberg mountain (Swartland). Launched by Marc Kent with winemaker Callie Louw; small-production, highly regarded estate since 2010.
