Tasting Note
Perfumed Syrah: raspberry and wild strawberry with cloves, fennel and dried lavender. Medium-bodied, mineral-driven palate with bright acidity, supple yet gripping tannins, white-pepper spice and a long saline finish.
Food Pairing
Roast lamb, venison, beef short ribs, mushroom risotto, aged cheddar; Asian: Korean BBQ, Sichuan pepper beef, char siu, braised beef with soy and star anise.
Production Method
Hand-harvested, very low yields; fermented and matured ~12 months in concrete eggs (minimal/no oak), extended skin contact; bottled in small batches.
Vineyard Info
Single-site Syrah from the slopes of Porseleinberg in the Swartland, made by Callie Louw since 2010. Small-production, highly regarded ‘cult’ producer focused on site expression.
