Concentrated Sangiovese with black cherry, dried red fruit, dark chocolate, tobacco, espresso and cedar; savory undergrowth and Mediterranean herbs. Firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Western: bistecca alla Fiorentina, roasted lamb, mushroom risotto, aged Pecorino or Tuscan cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, beef bulgogi, char siu, miso-glazed eggplant, rich soy-braised short ribs.
Production Method
Cold pre-maceration, fermentation in stainless-steel vats with extended maceration; aged ~30 months in Slavonian and French oak large casks with additional bottle aging prior to release. Strict parcel selection for Riserva.
Vineyard Info
Poggio Antico (35 ha) sits at ~500–550m on calcareous, stony soils. Founded 1976; low‑impact, terroir-driven viticulture. Owner Marcel van Poecke (since 2017) modernized the estate while preserving traditional Brunello techniques.
