Awards/Ratings
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 93 pts (vintage coverage). Neal Martin: 93 pts (Rewards of Patience vertical tasting). Wine Spectator review (Oct 2005) described it as 'very firm and chewy' and advised further cellaring
Tasting Note
Dark blackberry, plum and ripe cherry with black olive, roasted-meat, liquorice, mocha and baking spice. Medium–full body, polished but firm tannins, bright saline-acidity and a long, savory finish that gains earth and leather with age.
Food Pairing
Western: roast beef, beef Wellington, lamb, venison, charcuterie and aged cheeses. Asian: Korean BBQ (galbi), Chinese char siu or Peking duck, Sichuan/braised beef, Malaysian beef rendang, grilled yakitori (rich umami meats).
Production Method
Multi-regional Shiraz components fermented and blended; matured 15–18 months in large, seasoned 1,460L (old) oak vats to minimise new-oak influence before bottling.
Vineyard Info
Made by Penfolds (est. 1844). St Henri originated in the 1950s as an elegant counterpoint to Grange and remains a signature multi‑regional South Australian Shiraz expression.
