Awards/Ratings
Vintage received mixed reviews: Uncorked tasting panel ~85/100 for 2000; Wine Enthusiast described it as fruit-driven and recommended drinking in the 2000s
Tasting Note
Dense black-plum and black-cherry fruit with blackberry, kirsch and dark spice. Savory/charcuterie and licorice notes, fine-grained firm tannins, mouthwatering acidity and an earthy, slightly herbal finish.
Food Pairing
Roast lamb, beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, aged cheddar; Asian: char siu (roast pork), Korean BBQ (bulgogi), Peking duck, Sichuan lamb skewers or spicy barbecue dishes.
Production Method
Multi‑district Shiraz picked and fermented conventionally; matured in large old oak vats (1,460–2,000L) with little or no new oak, then bottled after 12–18 months to preserve pure fruit character.
Vineyard Info
Produced by Penfolds, an historic Australian house (est. 1844). St Henri revived commercially in 1957 from the Auldana/St Henri tradition; signature single‑varietal Shiraz expression within Penfolds’ range.
