Ripe blackcurrant and blackberry with violet perfume, cedar, tobacco and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and opulent, plush mid-palate with firm, polished tannins and a long, spiced finish; excellent aging potential.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, beef ribeye, duck breast, game birds, aged hard cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), soy-braised short ribs, mushroom hot pot.
Production Method
Hand-harvested grapes; temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, short maceration, malolactic fermentation; aged 18–24 months in French oak (significant portion new).
Vineyard Info
Produced by Château Margaux; Pavillon Rouge named in 1908 as the estate's second wine. Quality improved under André Mentzelopoulos; strict selection and low yields mirror the domaine's standards.
