Tasting Note
Concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry with violet, cedar, graphite and tobacco notes. Full-bodied, silky yet firm tannins, complex spice and mineral undertones with a long, refined finish. Ready to drink but still showing tertiary leather and forest-floor notes.
Food Pairing
Western: roast rack of lamb, duck breast, venison, beef carpaccio, mushroom risotto, aged Comté or Gruyère. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean galbi (braised short ribs), soy-braised beef, shiitake mushroom stir-fries, rich Cantonese roasted meats.
Production Method
Second wine of Château Margaux made from rigorous selection of parcels; traditional vinification with blending of Cabernet/Merlot/Petit Verdot; élevage in oak (around 50% new barrels) but shorter than the Grand Vin.
