Tasting Note

Perfumed Margaux character: blackcurrant, black cherry and plum with violet, cedar, tobacco and spice notes. Polished, grainy tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral, chalky finish with long savory depth.


Food Pairing

Western: roast lamb, prime rib, duck confit, mushroom risotto, aged cheddar or Comté. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ short ribs, beef rendang, soy-grilled shiitake mushrooms.


Production Method

Hand-harvested, sorted and destemmed. Traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, malolactic conversion, aged 12–18 months in French oak (approx. 50–55% new).

Produced by Château Margaux; Pavillon Rouge is the estate’s second wine (named 1908) revived by André Mentzelopoulos in 1977. Represents ~30% of harvest, made from Margaux estate parcels.
