Tasting Note

Medium-bodied Margaux second wine: blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar, leather and dried herbs. Silky, moderate tannins, balanced acidity and a perfumed, slightly tobacco-tinged finish.


Food Pairing

Western: roast lamb, braised beef, duck confit, aged hard cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, soy-braised beef, mushroom-based hotpots and grilled shiitake.


Production Method

Hand-harvested fruit; fermented in temperature-controlled vats; strict selection for the second wine; aged approximately 12–18 months in French oak (portion new oak).

Pavillon Rouge is the long-established second wine of Château Margaux (Premier Cru Classé). Estate restored by André Mentzelopoulos; now managed by Corinne Mentzelopoulos with a reputation for precision and elegance.
