Tasting Note

Smoky, meaty core of red and black berry preserves with violet, pepper, leather and mineral notes; savory soy and roasted meat accents, velvety texture and a long, smoky finish.

Western: roast lamb, beef tournedos, braised short ribs, game birds with mushroom sauces. Asian: char siu or soy-braised beef, miso-glazed duck, Korean BBQ (bulgogi/braised short ribs), rich Cantonese red-cooked pork.


Production Method

Hand-harvested Syrah; hand-sorted, destemmed/lightly crushed; extended maceration (3–4 weeks); aged 15–18 months in French oak (≈20% new).

Flagship cuvée of Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné, blending fruit from Le Méal, Les Bessards and other Hermitage lieux-dits; Frey family took control in 2006 and moved toward organic/biodynamic practices.
