Awards/Ratings

Strong critical reception for Nicolas‑Jay Chardonnays overall; single‑vineyard Bishop Creek releases commonly earn high scores (typically in the low‑ to mid‑90s) from reviewers such as Decanter, Jeb Dunnuck and Wine Enthusiast; noted for ageworthiness

Tasting Note

Bright straw; aromas of white peach, quince, orange zest, wet stone and flint. Palate shows golden apple, butterscotch, kefir-lime leaf and chalky minerality framed by tightly grained French oak. Taut, tensioned acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Food Pairing

Western: roast chicken with herb butter, lobster or crab with beurre blanc, creamy mushroom pasta, soft cheeses (Brie, aged cheddar). Asian: miso‑glazed black cod, seared salmon sushi, mildly spiced Thai or Malaysian dishes, soy‑ginger glazed scallops.

Production Method

Barrel-fermented (native/ambient yeasts), aged ~14–15 months in French oak (c.25% new). Minimal intervention; fruit from organically farmed, no‑till Bishop Creek Vineyard.

Vineyard Info
