Tasting Note

Perfumed cassis, blackberry and blueberry with violet, cedar, pencil lead and tobacco notes. Medium-bodied, precise acidity, chalky fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral-tinged finish.

Western: roast lamb, grilled ribeye, beef short ribs, aged cheddar. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ beef, beef rendang, braised shiitake and soy-glazed dishes.


Production Method

Hand-harvested estate fruit; destemmed and lightly crushed; 12–14 day fermentations in open/closed fermenters; malolactic in barrel; 22 months in French oak (mix of large format and barriques); minimal fining/filtration.

Family-owned single‑vineyard estate founded by John and Marli Middleton in 1971. Small-production, estate-grown Bordeaux-style wines made on-site in Lilydale, Yarra Valley.
