Tasting Note

Dense dried fruit, dark chocolate, cedar and tobacco on the nose; white pepper, toasted oak, coffee and citrus on a robust, oily palate; long, spicy, chewy finish with gingerbread and liquorice notes.


Food Pairing

Western: roast beef, venison, mature blue cheese, dark chocolate, sticky toffee pudding. Asian: char siu (Chinese BBQ pork), Korean BBQ (galbi), soy-glazed pork belly, spiced duck, miso-marinated grilled fish.


Production Method

Copper pot-distilled single malt matured a minimum of 20 years, predominantly in sherry-seasoned oak casks; married and bottled at 43.4% ABV (chill-filtered and coloured in commercial bottlings).

Mortlach Distillery, founded 1823 in Dufftown, Speyside. Nicknamed 'The Beast of Dufftown', Mortlach's modern single malts (Cowie's Blue Seal series) are marketed by Diageo's Malts portfolio.
