Awards/Ratings
older vintages have earned high scores (e. g. , ~95 pts cited for 2014)
Tasting Note
Rich, apricot and orange-peel aromas with honeyed raisin, floral notes and a saline minerality. Lusciously sweet but balanced by bright citrus and herbal lift, finishing long with marmalade and spice.
Food Pairing
Western: blue cheese, foie gras, aged Manchego, tarte tatin, crème brûlée. Asian: mooncake, mango sticky rice, sweet dim sum pastries, Cantonese roast pork, mildly spicy Szechuan dishes.
Production Method
Grapes hand-harvested and sun-dried (asoleo), pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel; fermentation is stopped spontaneously and wine ages ~10 months in tank.
Vineyard Info
Molino Real, a project led by Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza since the 1990s, farms steep, schist soils around Cómpeta (~350–1,000m) to revive traditional Málaga "mountain wines."
