Tasting Note
Deep ruby; concentrated black cherry, plum and blackberry with cocoa, tobacco, leather, vanilla and spicy pepper. Full-bodied, firm fine-grained tannins, rich texture and a long, chocolate- and tobacco-tinged finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, osso buco, aged hard cheeses. Asian: Korean BBQ, braised beef with soy/ginger, Peking duck, spicy Sichuan beef, teriyaki short ribs.
Production Method
Hand-harvested Montepulciano; destemmed, long maceration and fermentation in stainless steel; matured ~36 months with 18–24 months in new French oak barriques, followed by bottle ageing.

Masciarelli founded 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli. Villa Gemma is the estate flagship cru (c.400m) in San Martino sulla Marrucina; low yields and dense plantings produce concentrated Montepulciano grapes.
