Tasting Note
Medium-full Bordeaux with blackcurrant, dark cherry, violet, tobacco, cedar and dark chocolate. Silky, fine-grained tannins, saline minerality and bright acidity; long, polished finish with graphite and bramble fruit.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, ribeye/steak, braised short ribs, aged cheeses (Comté, aged cheddar). Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ/bulgogi, beef mapo tofu, miso-glazed eggplant.
Production Method
Hand-harvested, parcel vinification, aged ~18 months in French oak barrels (c.50% new). Estate organic certified (since 2016) and in conversion to biodynamics.
Vineyard Info
Château La Lagune, 3ème Grand Cru Classé (1855). Purchased by Jean-Jacques Frey in 2000; Caroline Frey oversees winemaking. Estate c.110 ha (≈75 ha for grand vin).
