Tasting Note
Concentrated lemon-lime blossom, flinty minerality, salted citrus and exotic spice with toasted hazelnut and subtle anise. Rich, saline texture, bright acidity and a long, focused finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roasted chicken, buttered lobster, creamy mushroom risotto, pork belly. Asian: miso-glazed black cod, tempura prawns, steamed fish with ginger & scallion, mild Thai green curry.
Production Method
Hand-harvested; whole-bunch pressed; indigenous (wild) yeast fermentation; 100% barrel fermentation in French oak; 100% malolactic; 11 months on lees; lightly toasted, air-dried barrels used.
Vineyard Info
Kumeu River (Brajkovich family) is a historic Auckland producer. Hunting Hill was first planted in 1982, replanted c.2000, and is a single-vineyard cuvée noted for mealy minerality and ageworthiness.
