Tasting Note
Concentrated golden dessert wine: apricot, candied orange, jasmine, rosewater, sandalwood and nutmeg; vibrant acidity balances opulent sweetness with a long, slightly pithy finish.
Food Pairing
Western: foie gras, pâté, blue or washed-rind cheeses, fruit tarts, crème brûlée. Asian: mango sticky rice, sesame/hoisin roast duck, sweet-savory dim sum, Thai mango salad, ginger-orange glazed salmon.
Production Method
Late-harvest Muscat grapes picked in multiple passes (no botrytis), partially raisined/late-harvested, long fermentation and oak aging in 500L French/Hungarian oak and large foudres before blending.
Vineyard Info
Historic Klein Constantia estate on the Constantiaberg, revived in the late 20th century; small planted Muscat parcels produce this iconic, single-varietal dessert wine under winemaker Matthew Day.
