Tasting Note

Concentrated blueberry, blackberry and redcurrant with violets, sage, licorice, clove, star anise, dark chocolate and tobacco; fine sandy tannins, bright acidity and a long, energetic finish.

Grilled ribeye, roast lamb, beef short ribs, venison, aged cheeses; Asian pairings: char siu, Korean BBQ (bulgogi/galbi), Sichuan beef, Peking duck, miso-glazed eggplant.


Production Method

Hand-harvested old-vine Shiraz; fermented in stainless and open fermenters; matured ~18 months in French oak (portion new) in various formats; bottled under screw cap, often unfiltered.

Family-owned Jim Barry estate in Clare Valley. Armagh vineyard (planted 1968) is the winery's flagship single-vineyard Shiraz, very low-yielding and prized for age-worthy fruit.
