Awards/Ratings
Well-regarded in reviews: The Wine Society listing (4. 5/5 customer rating) and specialist sellers note around 91/100 for the 2019 Poncetys; Burgundy Report and multiple retailers praise its concentration and aging potential
Tasting Note
Concentrated, mineral white with orchard fruit (apple, white peach), citrus zest, honeysuckle and subtle toast. Saline, chalky backbone and bright acidity lead to a long, slightly spicy finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled scallops, lobster, asparagus risotto, roasted chicken, soft cow or goat cheeses. Asian: miso-glazed cod, prawn tempura, sushi (fatty tuna), Thai green curry, ginger-soy scallops.
Production Method
Fruit from very old vines (1944–45), low yields; fermented and aged in oak (partial new barrels ~20%) with careful élevage to preserve freshness and minerality.
Vineyard Info
Small family domaine in Vergisson (Jacques & Nathalie Saumaize, joined by son Anthony). ~12 ha across Mâconnais; emphasizes old vines, low yields and organic/biodynamic principles.
