Awards/Ratings
2013 wines praised for elegance and aging potential
Tasting Note
Ethereal, perfumed and delicate: bright red cherry and strawberry, rose petal, a hint of orange oil and coastal saline minerality. Transparent fruit, soft, fine tannins and lively acidity with a lingering, lifted finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, roasted chicken, pork tenderloin. Asian: Peking duck, miso-glazed black cod, soy-ginger seared tuna, mushroom ramen, lighter Korean BBQ (pork/duck).
Production Method
Estate-grown, biodynamic farming; small-lot fermentations and careful barrel selection. Aged in French oak with modest new oak to preserve delicate fruit and aromatic lift.
Vineyard Info
Hirsch Vineyards was planted by David Hirsch beginning in 1980 on the Fort Ross–Seaview coast; small-production, estate wines from fragmented blocks, biodynamically farmed and crafted to express site complexity. Longtime winemaking stewardship has included Ross Cobb.
