Tasting Note
Profusion of Rainier cherries and plums; with air, Tahitian vanilla, sarsaparilla, forest floor and wet river stones. Soft, round palate with juicy dark fruit, bright acidity, gentle tannins and a persistent, long finish. Approachable now.
Food Pairing
Western: roast chicken, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, pork tenderloin, lamb. Asian: miso-glazed salmon, hoisin or pekin duck, pork-belly bao, teriyaki chicken, mushroom soba.
Production Method
Hand-harvested fruit; fermented in small open-top tanks; aged in French oak (~28% new). Fruit farmed biodynamically and conventionally; made for early drinking.
Vineyard Info
Founded by David Hirsch in 1980 on the West Sonoma Coast. Family-owned estate, converted to biodynamic practices (conversion complete 2014), known for site-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnays.
