Tasting Note
Amber-copper colour. Aromas of dried fig, caramel, toasted almond, honeyed toffee, orange peel and dried apricot. Silky and layered on the palate with bright acidity, nutty spice and a long warm caramel-praline finish.
Food Pairing
Western: aged blue cheeses, Manchego, crème brûlée, almond tart, pecan pie, dark chocolate. Asian: mango sticky rice, mooncakes, sesame brittle, miso-caramel desserts, Peking duck or spiced duck dishes.
Production Method
Blend of multiple vintages fortified with aguardente (grape spirit) to arrest fermentation. Aged oxidatively in large oak casks for an average of 30 years and assembled by fractional blending to ensure balance and complexity.
Vineyard Info
W. & J. Graham founded 1820; acquired Quinta dos Malvedos in 1890. Owned by the Symington family since 1970, Graham's sources grapes from its Douro quintas and is noted for traditional maturation and coopering.
