Tasting Note
Medium-deep garnet. Aromas of blackcurrant, black plum and cassis with bay leaf, cigar-box and clove. Palate delivers juicy black fruit, dark chocolate, olive and toasty oak, framed by grainy ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a long savory finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled ribeye, roast lamb, beef stew, aged cheddar. Asian: Korean BBQ (bulgogi), char siu, Peking duck, Sichuan-style beef or beef rendang.
Production Method
Single-vineyard fruit from old Nuriootpa vines; hand‑picked, fermented in open-top concrete/wood fermenters with manual pump-overs and submerged cap; malolactic in oak; matured 18–22 months in French oak hogsheads.
Vineyard Info
Elderton is a family-owned Barossa estate purchased and restored by Neil & Lorraine Ashmead around 1980; first wines released in 1982. Now run by second-generation Cameron and Allister Ashmead, known for old-vine single-vineyard reds.
