Awards/Ratings
Contemporary praise as a strong "sleeper" of the 1998 vintage (Robert Parker/Wine Advocate tasting note). Decanter and other trade sources note an aromatic bouquet and good structure. No single universal numeric consensus located for the 1998; typical critics' band for Du Tertre vintages of this era is roughly high-80s to low-90s
Tasting Note
Black cherry, ripe plum, violet and tobacco on the nose; concentrated blackberry and jammy red-fruit flavors with earthy, cedar and grilled spice notes. Silky, clear texture, medium–full body, polished tannins and a long savory finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, beef ribeye, duck confit, aged hard cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), char siu, beef rendang or miso-glazed aubergine.
Production Method
Traditional Bordeaux vinification: fermented in temperature-controlled vats, malolactic conversion, aged 12–18 months in oak barrels (portion new), blended from estate parcels.
