Tasting Note
Bright red cherry, cranberry and damson plum with lavender and dried herbal notes; brown spices, fine-silky tannins, lively acidity and a long savory, earthy finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast duck with plum sauce, lamb or venison, mushroom risotto, roast beef, aged soft cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, miso-glazed black cod, char siu pork, mushroom & soy stir-fry, Korean bulgogi. Pair with umami-rich dishes and earthy mushrooms.
Production Method
Hand-harvested fruit; approx. 25% whole-bunch inclusion, indigenous yeast fermentation (c.21 days), pressed and aged ~18 months in French oak (≈30% new); bottled under screwcap, minimal intervention, unfined/unfiltered.
Vineyard Info
Founded by Ivan Sutherland and James Healy (ex-Cloudy Bay); Dog Point farms organically (Biogro certified), large clay-loam hillside vineyards in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. Emphasizes low yields and minimal-intervention winemaking.
