Awards/Ratings
Highly acclaimed: Wine Spectator ~98 pts; Robert Parker (WA) ~96; Vinous ~96; Neal Martin ~94; Decanter: gold/very high praise. Classified Premier Cru Supérieur (1855)
Tasting Note
Dense, honeyed and complex: marmalade, apricot, dried pineapple, butterscotch, caramel and toasted vanilla with a lanolin/tea leaf note. Ultra-viscous yet bright, long citrus-tinged finish and refined botrytized richness.
Food Pairing
Foie gras, Roquefort or blue cheeses, crème brûlée, fruit tarts, tarte Tatin; Asian: Peking duck, rich Cantonese roast pork, mildly spicy Thai curries, sweet-savory dim sum (barbecued pork).
Production Method
Late-harvest grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea, multiple hand-harvest passes, small-batch fermentation in oak and extended aging in new French oak barrels; blended from Sémillon/Sauvignon parcels.
