Awards/Ratings
Vinous (Neal Martin) 89–91, Burghound (Allen Meadows) 88–91; widely reviewed as a high-quality Vougeot Premier Cru blanc (Monopole)
Tasting Note
Refined white Burgundy: lemon and orange pith, white flowers, yellow peach and beeswax, with wet stone minerality, subtle toasted hazelnut and integrated oak; medium-plus body and a saline, chalky finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roasted chicken with mushrooms, lobster or scallops in butter sauce, creamy cheese (Comté). Asian: steamed sea bass with ginger and soy, sushi/sashimi, mild Thai coconut curry, Chinese steamed fish.
Production Method
Organically farmed, biodynamic since early 2000s; hand-harvested Chardonnay, gentle pneumatic pressing, part barrel fermentation and ageing (approx. 12–18 months, ~20% new oak), lees ageing for texture.
Vineyard Info
Domaine de la Vougeraie, created 1999 by the Boisset family from older holdings; largest organic/biodynamic estate in Côte d'Or. Clos du Prieuré is a monopole (~0.83 ha) planted to Chardonnay.
