Tasting Note

Citrus-driven: lemon zest and green apple with beeswax, hazelnut and oyster-shell minerality. Lean, sinewy palate, subtle toasted oak and spice, bright acidity and a long saline finish.


Food Pairing

Western: lobster with beurre blanc, seared scallops, roast chicken, mushroom risotto, creamy pasta, aged Comté. Asian: miso‑glazed black cod, Cantonese steamed sea bass, tempura prawns, sushi/sashimi (fatty tuna), soy‑glazed salmon.


Production Method

Organic/biodynamic farming; whole-cluster pneumatic pressing, native-yeast fermentation in vats and barrels; aged ~16 months in French oak (≈20% new) with periodic bâtonnage; horse-ploughed parcels.


Vineyard Info

Domaine de la Vougeraie (est. 1999, Boisset family) farms biodynamically across Burgundy. Charlemagne comes from two small parcels (Le Charlemagne & En Charlemagne) totaling ~0.5 ha on the Montagne de Corton.
