Tasting Note
Intense peat smoke balanced by red fruits, stewed pear, melon and floral rose/geranium notes; vanilla, honey and toasted oak lead to a viscous, malty palate of blackberry, plum and aged leather, finishing saline with crushed seashells and lemon rind.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled ribeye, smoked lamb, blue cheese, dark chocolate. Asian: miso‑glazed black cod, char siu pork, Korean BBQ short ribs, smoked eel (unagi) sushi.
Production Method
Heavily peated (≈40ppm) single malt distilled on Islay; aged 4 years in first-fill ex‑bourbon barrels then re‑casked into Pomerol wine casks (from Bordeaux) for further maturation; bottled at cask strength 54.5% ABV.
Vineyard Info
Produced by Bruichladdich Distillery (Port Charlotte line) on Islay. The distillery focuses on terroir-driven, barley‑specific and cask exploration releases, resurrected in 2001 and renowned for experimental maturations.
