Tasting Note

Perfumed black and blue fruits, violets and white pepper with olive, cured-meat and espresso notes. Full-bodied, silky and focused with fine-grained tannins and a long, savory finish.


Food Pairing

Grilled lamb, ribeye or beef stew; aged hard cheeses (cheddar, Manchego); Asian pairings: Korean BBQ (bulgogi/galbi), char siu, spicy Sichuan beef, braised beef short ribs.


Production Method

Partially destemmed with ~60–65% whole-bunch fermentation in concrete, spontaneous yeast fermentation; matured ~18 months in large (2,500L) foudres and 600L demi-muids.

Boekenhoutskloof (Marc Kent) sources Syrah from Swartland parcels Porseleinberg and Goldmine; estate based in Franschhoek, modern operations established in the 1990s on a historic 1776 farm.
