Tasting Note
Silky red with red and black fruit, violet florals, spice and subtle mineral/mineral lift; juicy, fresh and compact palate with fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long, lingering finish.

Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, grilled steak, roast pork, game, aged manchego and other hard cheeses. Asian: Korean BBQ (bulgogi), char siu, Peking duck, spicy Sichuan beef, teriyaki beef, yakitori.

Production Method
Hand-harvested; destemmed and gently crushed; fermented with native yeasts in open 3,000L oak vats; aged about 15 months in French oak barrels and foudres (500L).

Bodega Lanzaga is Telmo Rodríguez’s intimate Rioja project in Lanciego. El Velado comes from a <1 ha plot at ~600–620m with ~80-year-old bush vines farmed organically.
