Awards/Ratings
Noted reviews: Vinous 91–93 for 2019 Fixin 'Les Crais'; Vinous 90–92 for 2019 Fixin 'Les Clos'. Positive reviews from Burghound and Jasper Morris for 2019 cuvées; widely praised as a strong village-level Fixin (sources: Vinous, Burghound, Burgundy Report)
Tasting Note
Crunchy red and dark cherry, wild violet and subtle iodine, with saline minerality, light spice and sappy mid-palate. Medium-bodied, fine-grained tannins and a persistent, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast duck, beef bourguignon, mushroom risotto, pork loin, charcuterie and mild cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, char siu or roasted pork belly, miso-glazed aubergine, grilled teriyaki salmon, bulgogi with steamed rice.
Production Method
Sustainably farmed (practicing organic). 2019 village cuvée largely destemmed, indigenous yeast fermentation after short cold maceration, aged in neutral oak/concrete with little or no new oak (bottled soon after élevage).
Vineyard Info
Family domaine Berthaut-Gerbet (16 ha) in Fixin; Amélie Berthaut took over in 2013 and shifted to lower-extraction, sustainable/organic practices to produce fresher, terroir-driven Pinot Noir.
