Tasting Note

Amber, viscous wine with caramel, walnut-husk, honey, nutmeg and mint notes; flavors of dried figs, almonds, candied orange and orange marmalade; luscious sweetness balanced by bright acidity and a long, sensual finish.


Food Pairing

Western: cantucci/almond biscuits, crème brûlée, blue cheeses, foie gras, fruit tarts. Asian: mooncakes, sesame cookies, sweet red-bean desserts, mild Thai coconut desserts, spiced Chinese pastries.


Production Method

Grapes are hand-harvested, dried on mats (appassimento), gently pressed, fermented slowly in 50–60L oak caratelli with indigenous 'madre' yeast, and aged over 10 years in caratelli (oxidative aging).

Avignonesi, family-run estate in Montepulciano led by the Falvo family; renowned for traditional Vin Santo using an inherited 'madre' culture and long ageing. Estate produces Vino Nobile and small-quantity Vin Santo.
